I Want To Write A Poem – An Original Poem
Hello there,
How are you?
Yesterday, I wrote a poem – because I wanted to. (Get it?)
It sounds best when it’s read out loud, so I created this quick and goofy recording of me reading it. I hope you like it!
I Want To Write A Poem
Ellie Cummins
I want to write a poem,
But I don’t know what to say.
My head is feeling useless
And my pen is writing gray.
I could write about the future,
Or perhaps about the past.
I could write of quests and daring,
But I wouldn’t be the last.
My eyes just feel so bleary
And the words are simply bleak.
My hand is cramped and weary
And I’ve no words left to speak.
I could write about the sunrise,
How it sparkles in the air.
I could write about the night skies
Full of starlight everywhere.
But I’d really rather not
Because I can’t think what to tell.
These silly words are all I’ve got.
I’m prepared to say farewell.
The parting is the grievous part,
For I must say goodbye.
I feel a wrenching in my heart
And struggle not to cry.
I know I haven’t words to share,
But still I feel unsure to say
“Goodbye to you and may you bear
This long and poem-empty day.”
Perhaps you feel the bitter slight
Of having not a rhyme to read.
For after reading of my plight,
You’re left with nothing to proceed.
It’s not my fault, I promise you!
It’s just that I’ve run dry.
I want to write, indeed I do,
I’m just too tired to try.
I want to write a poem,
But I don’t know what to say.
So I won’t waste a bit more time
And bid you now, “Good day.”
I’d love to hear your feedback!
I love it! I wrote something like once. It wasn’t half as good though. (:
Thanks so much, Anna! I bet your poem rocked! I’d love to hear it sometime!
Nothing to say–you said it quite well!!! Quite entertaining but there are some timely thoughts in there. Love you, G’ma
