Guilty Rain – An Original Song

Rain drummed, children shouted, and the chord of G minor filled the room. Side by side at the piano, two cousins wrote a song. And so the idea for “Guilty Rain” was born.

Taking the bits and pieces of what Claire and I created on that rainy afternoon, I wrote more lyrics to the song and arranged them.

When the right time came, (a week in July, approximately fourteen months after “Drip, drop, drip, drop” was first sung) I recorded the song with my handy Yeti microphone and MIDI controller.

I’d love for you to take a listen!

(Thank you, Claire, for the way you see the world. Your song idea was wonderful.)

Guilty Rain

Lyrics

Written By Claire Mann and Ellie Cummins

Drip, drop, drip, drop

Against my window pane

Drip, drop, drip, drop

Against  my window pane

Drip, drop, drip, drop

It never sounds the same

Against my window

Against my window pane

Drip, drop, drip, drop

Reminds me of the pain

Drip, drop, drip, drop

It’s driving me insane

Drip, drop, drip, drop

I hear it’s doleful cry

There’s nowhere I can hide

It knows that I have lied

Drip, drop, drip, drop

Why can’t it let things be?

(Oh, let it be!)

Drip, drop, drip, drop

It knows my agony

(Knows my agony)

Drip, drop, drip, drop

I’ve never known such pain

(Don’t know the pain)

Drip, drop, drip, drop

Oh, relentless rain!

Drip, drop, drip, drop

They say that I’m deranged,

But nothing’s really changed

Except the rain

I’d love to hear what you think.
