A Country Girl

Howdy!

How was your Thanksgiving? Did you have a good weekend?

Here’s a little poem I composed. I rewrote it a bit, but it originated in the car on our way down to Thanksgiving, all because the sky was so pretty outside my window.

Nature is so brilliant and flaming with color. It’s a canvas that God painted, and I’m so glad He did!

A Country Girl

She’s a country girl.
She needs the hills spread out before her
And the valleys sweeping low.

She’s a country girl.
She needs the daylight bright and brilliant
And the darkness vast and slow.

She’s a country girl.
She needs the summer to be torrid
And the winter to be bare.

She’s a country girl.
She needs the silence to be audible
And the vacant to be there.

She’s a county girl.
She needs roaming, boundless places
Where a country girl can stand.

She’s a country girl.
She needs rambling strolls and ambling rambles
And whispering, dancing land.

She’s a country girl.
She needs endless, roving prairie
Where a country girl can wander.

She’s a country girl.
She needs gelid ice and scorching sand
And the pelting rain and thunder.

She’s a country girl.
She needs to saunter and to roam.
And in the end, her flying feet will find the way back home.

What do you like best about the country?

See you next week!

  1. Just loved this lovely lovely poem I can feel the countryside in your writing. It’s sometimes hard to express the beauty God lets us see. 🙂

  2. I love the country for many reasons, mostly because it brings me closer to the one who created the universe.Spaciousness, birds singing, cattle bellowing, the smell of fresh cut alfalfa, miles and miles of rolling hills, and laying on the ground at night star gazing. Many days I miss our farm,it was so peaceful there. 1. What a wonderful description. 🙂 I want to go there, too! Stars and hills and twittering birds – the world truly is an amazing place! I’ve been learning about the way the heart works, with its intricate processes and astounding facts, and I agree with you! Everything points back to a Creator 😀 A wonderful, majestic Creator. Love you! 🙂
