A Lettering Step By Step

Hello, Everyone!

So. Hand lettering seems to be pretty popular right now. I think it’s adorable, and it’s a good way to make something personal. That is why I have created a simple step-by-step for how to make your own hand lettering in less than ten minutes. By just changing the color scheme, you can change the entire feel. It doesn’t take long, and it’s a whimsical way to spice up cards or letters!

Print the word you want in large, straight letters.

Fill the letters in all the way, or mostly, depending on what you want the finished product to look like.

Box the word in with a bright color.

Draw tape around the edges (optional).

Add squigglies!

For a slightly comic book effect, zig-zag around the box and color in.

Add hearts.
Add polka dots.

  1. This is a neat post, Ellie! I like how you showed each step. I enjoy hand lettering, too… in fact, right now I’m taking an online calligraphy course. It’s been a lot of fun!
